Talcum Powder

Talcum powder lawsuits refer to legal claims filed against Johnson & Johnson and other manufacturers of talc-based products like baby powder and Shower to Shower. These lawsuits allege that talc products were contaminated with asbestos and caused ovarian cancer, fallopian cancer, and primary peritoneal cancer in some users.

Over 50,000 lawsuits have been filed against Johnson & Johnson over its talcum powder products. Most claims are from women diagnosed with ovarian cancer who regularly used Johnson & Johnson's Baby Powder for feminine hygiene purposes. There is evidence that asbestos fibers in talc can cause inflammation and lead to cancer when applied regularly in the genital area.

In 2020, Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $2.1 billion to settle around 25,000 Talcum Powder lawsuits. In 2023, Johnson & Johnson proposed an $8.9 billion bankruptcy settlement that was ultimately rejected. Now there has been talk of a third effort to file bankruptcy.
